I love watching scary movies because they are thrilling. I especially love watching them in fall because of Halloween.

One of the first scary movies I ever watched was Jaws. Although I was pretty young, I remember thinking that the movie was kind of stupid and looked very fake. I also didn’t really think it was that scary because of its unrealistic nature. 

Two scary movies that I really like are US and Get Out. Both these movies are by Jordan Peele and are fairly new (from the past 5 years).

US is about a family that is faced by 4 masked strangers who arrive at their house in an attempt to attack them. The attackers take off their masks and the family is horrified to discover that each attacker resembles a member of the family.

I thought that this movie was really interesting and I might even consider it my favorite scary movie.

You Should Have Left is another one of my personal favorites. It is about a couple that takes their daughter on a trip to the countryside for a vacation. When they arrive, some questionable events take place at the house, risking their safety.

Scream is a classic scary movie that I recently watched for the first time. There are four Scream movies, but I have only seen the first one.

It is about a masked killer who stalks and attacks high school students while the town tries to discover who’s behind the mask.

The last scary movie that I am going to talk about is Old.

This movie is about a family vacationing on a secluded beach when they discover that the beach has the power to quicken the aging process. Their life spans have been shortened to one day as they frantically search for a way to escape.

I recommend all these movies to those that have not seen them and I am very excited to watch some new scary movies this fall.

Disney princess movies are nostalgic – September 16, 2022

I grew up watching Disney princess movies that featured all of my favorite characters: Ariel, Belle, Rapunzel, Moana, Cinderella, Snow White, Pocahontas, etc. 

My favorite princess movie of all time is Beauty and the Beast. This movie features Belle who is trapped by a frightening beast that she eventually falls in love with. 

The reason I like this movie is because of the music. It contains many great songs including: “Belle,” “Gaston,” “Be Our Guest” and “Beauty and the Beast.”

Another movie that I liked when I was little was Frozen. Frozen includes both the princesses Anna and Elsa and also the infamous song “Let It Go.”

One of the newer princess movies, Moana, is really good with its popular songs and Dwane Johnson, who voices the character Maui. I love the song “How Far I’ll Go” as Moana decides that she must leave her island in order to protect it from danger.

Cinderella is another one of my favorites and I like the movies that are made based off of it. There are five movies inspired by Cinderella and my favorite is Another Cinderella Story. This movie features Selena Gomez and Jane Lynch and I have seen it many times.

Disney is currently about to come out with a new version of The Little Mermaid in 2023. It will be a live action movie in contrast to the original animated one. I am really looking forward to this movie coming out, especially because it includes the iconic songs “Part of Your World” and “Under the Sea.”

I love watching Disney princess movies that remind me of when I was younger and I think that these movies are a great option for all ages.

Comedy movies provide a sense of relief – September 16

One of the most common movie genres is comedy. I love watching movies and wanted to share some of my favorite comedy movies and actors. 

To begin, Jim Carrey is a great comedy actor who has been in many movies. Some of his most famous movies are Dumb and Dumber, Fun with Dick and Jane, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and The Mask. My favorite of his movies is Dumb and Dumber where two dumb guys travel across the country while being driven by love.

Another one of my favorite comedy actors is Will Ferrrell. Ferrell has been in the popular movies Elf, Daddy’s Home and Step Brothers. In interviews, Ferrell always says that making people laugh is his priority.

I like comedy movies because of their light and carefree feel. I especially love Grown Ups and Grown Ups 2 which feature both Adam Sandler and Kevin James. These movies are about five men and their childish lives, despite the fact that they are adults. 

Lastly, The Hangover is a very funny comedy movie about a group of men in Las Vegas and the exciting adventures that they face while trying to remember what happened at a bachelor party the previous night. The movie contains really good jokes and likable characters, such as my personal favorite Alan.

Overall, I think it is good to watch comedy movies because they can help you reduce stress and enhance your mental health. Comedy is my favorite movie genre because they always leave me in a good mood.
