Senior Assassin tradition continues

Senior Assassin is a game that is unaffiliated with the school, but is annually played by the senior class.

It is somewhat controversial as the main purpose of the game is to eliminate or “shoot” your opponent with a water gun to get them out or even “stalk” them or find out information on their personal life.

Many people know about the game, but many do not take into consideration the role of the game makers. The game makers this year are seniors Ella Fennerty and Audrey Grosfeld.

Managing and regulating the game is a difficult task.

“It’s definitely been time-consuming and stressful managing this many people, but we are glad we are doing it,” Fennerty and Grosfeld said.

The main reason the game gets so much attention each year is because there is a money prize for the winner. The pot has gone up year by year, to last year getting to around $2,700.

“We raised the entry price by $1 so that we would have a bigger pot for the winner in the end,” Grosfeld said, “We also used the extra money from that change to increase the prize fund for best video so that people would be incentivized to make funny videos of the game.”

The main reason someone would even consider being a game maker is because they get a cut of the pot. However, Grosfeld is in it for another reason.

“I wanted to run Senior Assassin because the position has been passed down through my brothers since 2019,” Grosfeld said.

“I wanted to run the game because Audrey told me that she had not chosen anyone to be her partner as game maker,” Fennerty said, “I thought it would be a very unique opportunity that only two people get to experience each year.”

When asked what people should know about a Senior Assassin if they had never heard about it, Grosfeld and Fennerty shared some advice.

“Senior Assassin is an exciting opportunity that gives seniors a chance to win a lot of money before spring break,” Grosfeld and Fennerty said, “While many play for the cash, a lot of people just play for the experience. Beware that some people take this seriously though.”
