The boys soccer team’s season ended with a 2-1 defeat against no. 1 ranked Zionsville in the sectional championship. The Panthers’ final season record was 16-3-2. Although the team was unable to achieve the ultimate goal of winning the state tournament, they still accomplished two of their three main season goals, according to junior goalkeeper John Biederstedt.

“Our goals were to win state, win county and win MIC,” Biederstedt said.

The Panthers clinched the MIC title with 5-0 win over Ben Davis on September 26 and won the Marion County tournament on October 5, a 9-0 victory over Park Tudor. With 14 seniors graduating, the returning varsity players will need to step up next season.

“We are going to work hard next year and be the best we can be,” Biederstedt said.

Seniors Jerry Little, Alan Johnson, Jake Plant and junior Josemir Gomez were selected for the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association’s All-District first team, while seniors Thomas Phillips, Htoo Ray Moo and Mandela Cybahiro made second team All-District. The players on the All-District first team will play in the District Showcase Games on November 23 and 24 at North Central.
