“I stepped in the snow and my whole knee was in it,” Sophomore Maddie Santarossa said.
Students enjoyed three long days of e-learning from Jan 26th to Jan 28th.
“I really enjoyed the snow and not having to go to school.” Santarossa said.
The time off gave students the opportunity to hangout with friends, take a mental break from attending school, and catch up on much needed sleep.
“Im happy that the snow caused e-learning because I got to go to my friends house and sleep in” Santarossa said.
Being stuck inside also allowed families to enjoy time together apart from the chaos between work and school.
“There was a lot of snow but it was very fun, I just hung out with friends and family,” Junior Caroline Rickleff said.
Despite being snowed in and having days off from school, this didn’t stop students from going out and having fun.
“I enjoyed it, I went sledding at Butler, it was pretty fun,” sophomore Henry Houlek said.
The snow also allowed students to get creative. From snowmen to igloos, Panthers put their building skills to the test.
“Me and my friends built a huge snowman and an igloo on the second day,” Santarossa said.
Though it’s no question whether students enjoyed their time off in the snow, the extreme weather conditions also served as a severe hazard for many.
“Yeah I drove on the roads and they were pretty bad, they were slippery and it was really scary,”Santarossa said.
According to the IPS’s Bloomington District, there were around 828 car crashes over the weekend snow storm.
“Yeah I think they were a hazard, my friend crashed,” Houlek said.
Ice on the roads caused difficulty for cars to have traction, which made them very dangerous and intimidating to drive on.
“They were definitely a hazard, they were pretty bad because they were slippery, and it was hard to drive,” Rickleff said.
Regardless of cold temperatures, Panthers are still ready to bring the heat into each new week full of learning and fun.
