North Central has a population of around 3,750 students. With this many students, getting to class on time can be difficult. With congested hallways along with mass car traffic, getting to class on time can be difficult for many students.
This can cause many students to feel rushed, stressed and flustered.
“The traffic makes me feel rushed. It makes me feel rushed because I will be late and then have to walk really fast into class,” junior James Archer said.
With so many cars entering and leaving, along with lines and lines of buses, the campus becomes crowded.
“It would normally take me four or five minutes to get to school but then all the traffic adds like another five,” junior Josiah Johnson said.
Many people seem to feel the same way Johnson does.
“It’s pretty slow coming because Westfield is always backed up which causes them to drop me off at CVS,” sophomore Logan Hays said.
Students and parents have become increasingly annoyed with the traffic and the routes designed by the school.
“It makes me and my mom stressed because we have to take my sister to work, take me to school and she also goes to school herself,” Johnson said. “ We are also losing sleep because we have to wake up early to beat the traffic.”
This is a general consensus among many students.
“It makes me feel rushed because I feel like I have to hurry up and get to school sooner,” said Hays.
The traffic many times causes students to have to change the time they leave and their route.
“It affects my route to school in the sense that I plan on leaving earlier so that I can make it on time,” Archer said.
Another student said that the same thing has happened to him.
“It makes my parents drop me off at CVS,” Hays said.
Many students agree that the traffic is slow but not all the time, they feel the traffic is slow until you get on to campus.
“I would say in between, you know the traffic guards do a good job getting the kids across the streets, but before you get to where the traffic guards are it is pretty slow,” Johnson said.
However some students feel that the traffic has progressed recently and isn’t as slow as it was in the past.
“I would say the traffic isn’t the best but it has definitely gotten better. It has gotten better because the flow of traffic has improved,” Archer said.
