Fall is here and Indiana is ready. Fall activities are highly anticipated amongst Hoosiers. From festivals and state parks, to sports and local events, Indiana has a lot to offer when it comes to fall festivities.
Many people during fall visit Tuttle Orchards and Stuckey Farms. At orchards in Indiana, hayrides and mazes are offered, as well as many other festive activities.
Indiana also has state parks which tend to draw attraction during the fall seasons due to beautiful fall colors. Brown County State Park in Nashville Indiana is the most visited park during October.
Turkey Run State Park in Marshall Indiana is another popular spot for hiking. Both parks attract visitors from all over the state who love to visit the outdoors during fall.
Festivals are another popular activity during fall.
The Parke County Covered Bridge Festival is one of the largest. It is hosted by several small towns but has a large population from all over. The festival was made to celebrate the county’s historic covered bridges. The festival offers food, music and lots of activities. Another big event is the Riley Festival in Greenfield, which honors the poet James Whitcomb Riley. Every year they have a fall parade to commemorate him while also bringing in fall spirit. For people who enjoy Halloween events, Conner Prairie hosts the annual Headless Horseman featuring a haunted hayride, corn maze, and live entertainment.
“I recently went to the headless horse man at Conor Prairie. It was a lot of fun and there was good food and lots to do,” Freshman Dylan said.
In Indianapolis, the Zoo holds ZooBoo. Visitors Trick-or-Treat at the zoo while walking through the animal exhibits with some of the animals in costumes.Fall also brings sports. Fans visit Lucas Oil for the Indianapolis Colts, and Gainbridge Fieldhouse for the Pacers.
”I love going to the Colts games. The atmosphere is electric and they are very good. I think they will be superbowl contenters,” Freshman Nolan said.
Fall in Indiana brings festive energy and provides a mix of outdoor and indoor activities. Whether visiting or living in Indiana there is always something to do during the fall seasons.
