The Indianapolis Indians are the AAA affiliate team for the Pittsburgh Pirates. The club plays at Victory Field in downtown Indianapolis. The team was founded in 1902 and is the second oldest minor league baseball team.
The club has kept the same logo and uniforms since 1996, but in September of 2025 the club decided it was time for a change.
“It’s always good to change up the uniforms every once in a while so that the fans don’t get tired of wearing the same thing for years,” sophomore Elijah Bell said.
“I think the new jerseys and logos are good for the team since they had their previous uniforms for a while,” junior Jackson Giegrich said.
The logo includes Native American ribbon work. The logo also includes details from the team’s 12 championship seasons across the 124-year history.
“I enjoy seeing how the team included Native American history in the logo,” Bell said.
According to the MILB, the team is committed to pleasing the fans and growing the team throughout the state.
“We’ve been a cornerstone of the Circle City community since 1902 and remain committed to continuing that tradition with outstanding fan experiences, affordable family entertainment, and operational success that contributes to the growth and vibrancy of Central Indiana,” the MILB said.
The uniforms represent the city in a way that the old ones didn’t. “INDPLS” is displayed across the chest on the teams uniforms representing the capitol of Indiana.
“I like how the uniforms represent the city and the state a lot more than the old ones did. There are many small details throughout the uniforms that mean a lot to the city,” Giegrich said.
The history means a lot to fans. In the logo it incorporates Miami Nation inspired ribbon work around the edges to show the Nations locality.
”We decided it was time to lean into our history. These marks are very attractive in the present time but they also harken back to a time that gives us a chance to talk about the major league teams we’ve worked with, the championships we’ve won, the ballparks we’ve played in,” Indianapolis Indians CEO Bruce Schumacher said.
Many people like how the logos are simple but look good at the same time and still mean something to the city.
“The logos are very creative and simple which makes them look good,” Bell said.
