Tonight, the boys varsity basketball team plays in the first round of the sectional tournament. The team has had a good season after putting lots of time and effort into bettering their skills and working as a team to defeat their opponents.

The boys will play the Lawrence North Bears. The boys have faced off against the Bears twice before in January, suffering a loss in both games.

Senior cheerleader Mariah Brown has been cheering on the boys varsity since her freshman year and is excited to see the results of the game.

“I think the boys are well-prepared for sectional, and they’ve most definitely gotten better throughout the season,” Brown said.

As the season potentially comes to a close, students are bittersweet about players in their senior seasons.

“I’ve loved watching Tim [Williams] and Jaxson [Bell] play throughout the years and I hope they will make it far in the sectional tournament of their last season,” senior Lailah Jewell said.

Throughout previous games, the boys have learned from their mistakes and are highly motivated to lead their team to victory as the season comes to a close.

The players are excited about showing their skills and fans are excited about showing up to support their team.
