The NC Marching Band – the Marching Panthers – is in full swing, preparing for their second performance at Friday’s football game.
The Marching Panthers are one of three athletic bands at the school, along with the dance team and basketball pep band. Over the past few days, the Marching Panthers have put in a lot of work for the upcoming game, even practicing on Labor Day.
“Our practices are hard, so we can perfect our routines,” freshman Grant Demaree said, “We focus on precision, timing and making sure every detail is right.” Demaree is a member of the percussion group.
Anticipation and excitement are growing throughout the band.
“It’s a chance to show the whole school what we can do,” Demaree said, “It’s not just about the music; it’s about the energy and spirit we bring to the game.”
Freshman trombone player Lucas Ebersol is looking forward to another game-day performance.
“We’re ready to give it our all,” Ebersol said, “This is our chance to shine and support the team.”
Ebersol emphasized the importance of each member’s role.
“Every single person in the band has a crucial part to play,” Ebersol said, “From the drumline to the brass section, everyone contributes to the overall performance. It’s amazing to see how all the pieces fit together.”
Demaree echoed similar thoughts.
“Being a part of the marching band is more than just playing an instrument,” Demaree said, “It’s about teamwork, discipline, and having fun together. We’ve built strong friendships that go beyond the field.
As the game day approaches, the band remains focused and determined.
“We have a few more rehearsals left, and we’re going to make the most of them,” Ebersol said, “We want everything to be perfect, and we’re willing to put in the work to make that happen.”
Those who attended the first home game were already impressed with the marching band.
“I thought it was awesome,” freshman Sam Hamstra said, “It’s cool to see the energy and liveliness that they bring to the game.”
With the game just around the corner, the Marching Panthers are ready to dazzle the audience with their performance. Their hard work, dedication, and team spirit are to make a great performance for the game.
