The girls basketball season has come to an end after a loss to Warren Central last Tuesday. The team had a strong season with many special highlights like their game against Zionsville, which was a team favorite, and the win over Avon.
Freshman Kenleigh Schueller spent her season on JV and got to watch her older teammates play.
“I was really disappointed that the game was what ended our season,” Schueller said, “We dug ourselves in a hole in the first half and just couldn’t fix it.”
“My favorite part of the season was getting to meet new people and getting to compete with people who are more experienced than me,” Schueller said, “It was a big change from middle school basketball with a lot better competition and more space for me to grow.”
Schueller looks forward to playing next season.
Sophomore Nina Whitehead played on varsity this year and was double-rostered last year as a freshman.
“I think we should have beat them on Tuesday and it was really sad to watch my seniors end their season,” Whitehead said, “My favorite part of the season was our game winner against Avon.”
Whitehead was injured this season.
“It was difficult to watch my team play while being injured, but it was so nice to be a part of the team and get to look up to my other teammates and watch them grow as players,” Whitehead said, “I enjoy being challenged by them. I love my whole team and I couldn’t pick anyone to be my favorite.”
The girls basketball team ends their season with a strong love for the game and pride in their season. They will miss their seniors, but look forward to next season.
