The Spanish Honors Society decorates cookies for the Dar Con Amor fundraiser. This is one of the many events of the year that helps raise money for families in need.

Spanish Honors Society is one of the many clubs offered at North Central. The club meets every Tuesday during homeroom and once a month outside of school, engaging with North Central’s Spanish-speaking students and assisting with anything they need. The Spanish Honors Society is sponsored by Mrs. Lizer and led by president, Ale Appel.

From November 3-5, during lunch periods, the group organized a fundraiser “Dar Con Amor,” which means “Give With Love.” As part of the fundraiser, the club baked cookies and sold them for 50 cents each. All of the proceeds went toward buying Christmas presents for Spanish-speaking families in need.

Junior Madi Hudnut, is one of the newer members of the Spanish Honor Society.

“I joined this year because of all the great opportunities the club brings and to become better at speaking Spanish,” Hudnut said.

She enjoys meeting and being able to speak with many new people.

“I am happy knowing how successful the fundraiser was and how we will be able to make so many kids happy this Christmas,” Hudnut said.

After participating in her first Dar Con Amor fundraiser, Hudnut plans to continue participating in the Spanish Honor Society throughout the rest of her high school career to better the North Central community.
