5 facts you didn’t know about NC

NC was established in 1956. It has grown to a sprawling campus of 3800 students.

  1. NC was established in 1956 in response to Washington Township‘s rapidly growing population and the desire of residents to have a local high school. Prior to this, students from the township attended Broad Ripple High School and Shortridge High School in Indianapolis.
  2. NC underwent renovation following fires in 1993 and 1994. It is unknown if the fires were intentional or not. The fires caused over $1 million of damage.
  3. J. Everett Light was the first Superintendent of NC.
  4. NC students used to attend what we now know as Northview.
  5. In 1972, the J. Everett Light Career Center opened. Students could take classes in cosmetology, construction trades and auto mechanics. The high school also began to offer Advanced Placement courses.
