Q: What is something you did in high school that you have carried to the next level to be successful?

A: One thing I did at NC which I’ve tried to carry to the college level is just a confidence level that I try to play with on the field. I think it comes from preparation that’s also combined with what I can do naturally, so I really try to use the confidence to play on instinct.

Q: What’s the biggest challenge that comes with being a college quarterback?

A:The biggest challenge with playing quarterback in college especially as a freshman is trying to win over a locker room of men who have been established and are dedicated to the program. Coming in as an 18 year old you have to be willing to work really hard to earn people’s respect.

Q: How do you balance academics and athletics?

A: Balancing athletics and academics has always been super important because obviously you can’t have one without the other. I’ve found that being dedicated to a schedule and time management is the biggest part of managing the two.

Q: How did it feel to win conference freshman of the year last year?

A: It was a really accomplished feeling to win the award just because it shows what kind of team we had, so I could come in and contribute right away. I think it shows how complete we were and I was just happy to be a part of that.

Q:What’s the biggest difference between high school and college football?

A: The  biggest difference for me has been just having to understand the game better and knowing where everyone both on offense and defense will be in every situation. The main difference is just preparation and spending time working with your guys to get that chemistry.
