The boys soccer team hopes to capture the state title that has eluded them since 2005. Last year, the boys lost in the second round of the sectional tournament to eventual state runner-up Zionsville.
This year, the boys team will be led by senior captains Jerry Little and Alan Johnson. The team as a whole is senior-heavy, with 13 seniors.
“Even though we lost Kirezi Freddy we have 10 returning starters,” senior goalkeeper Alan Johnson said.
With 10 out of the 11 starters returning, the seniors believe they will have a great season with a strong chance of winning the state championship.
The team will make their first appearance scrimmaging Brebeuf Jesuit on August 14. Their first regular season game is away at Warren Central on August 20. The first home game is against Lawrence North on August 27.
