ASTROWORLD drops
August 9, 2018
Released on Aug 3, Astroworld is the third studio album released by American hip-hop artist Travis Scott. The album had been in production since mid-2016 and was put on hold for the release of Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight (2016).
Astroworld also follows Travis’ collaborative album with Migos member Quavo, Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho, which was released in late Dec, 2017.
The new album has many uncredited features from high profile artists such as Drake, 21 Savage and Swae Lee of rap duo Rae Sremmurd.
The album has received much praise from critics, but has also been enjoyed by many students from NC.
“[Astroworld] was definitely worth the wait and it lived up to the hype since being in production for two years,” senior Luke Menser said.
“Astroworld is better than “Birds in the Trap”,” sophomore Gabe Smith said.
“I think Stargazing is the best song on the album,” junior Lexi Danielson said.
Some students were more excited for the album to drop than others. The anticipation after “Rodeo” has been building up for over four years.
“I stayed up till midnight to listen to it,” said junior Nate Harden.
As of Aug 7, all 17 of the songs on Astroworld landed in the Top 20 on Apple Music’s charts with “Sicko Mode” featuring Drake coming out on top.
