Boys Track and Field Preview

The boys track team looks to follow up last seasons’ state tournament run with another run at a title this season. They will be looking to become the powerhouse in the state under new Head Coach Taylor Marshall. They will also be lead by coaches Josh Gambles, James Bell, Chad Wallace, and Jeremiah Lockett. The seniors of the team, which include Cole McGuire, Martell Johnson, Jacob Lough, Malcolm Corbett, Ethan Halloran and many more, are ready to win for the team to capture its first state title in 26 years.
North Central has won the state championship in 1971-72, 1975-76, and 1991-92, as well as runner-ups in 1968-69, 1974-75, 1976-77, 1983-84, 1984-85, 1988-89, 2000-01, 2003-04.
North Central has produced some track stars, which include Maicel-Malone Wallace and Futsum Zeinasellassie.
Senior Ethan Halloran spoke on his goals for the team this season, “My goals are to help the team win state and to help everyone improve and meet their individual goals”, Halloran said. “I want this season to be a season to remember”.
This year, they will face tough competition from other MIC schools, as well as competitive individual runners throughout the course of the season.
