Super Bowl LI Preview

The upcoming Super Bowl contains two teams who have demonstrated great skill in many competitive games. The Atlanta Falcons will face off against the New England Patriots in the 51st Super Bowl in Houston, Texas.

However, the journey to the Super Bowl was not easy for the Falcons. Teams such as the Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers, who both have phenomenal quarterbacks, didn’t have what it took to defeat the Falcons.

The Patriots on the other hand, were not tested as well as the Falcons were. The Houston Texans, without their star player, J.J. Watt, were no competition for the Patriots. The Pittsburgh Steelers, who have great talent, struggled against the Patriots in the AFC Championship game, which led to a 19 point deficit.

Though the Patriots are favored, I believe that the Falcons have what it takes to win the Lombardi Trophy. With the second leading passer in the NFL and the second leading receiver in yards, Matt Ryan and Julio Jones will be a major factor in the outcome of the game.

However, Tom Brady, the quarterback for the Patriots, will partake in his 7th career Super Bowl which may give the Patriots an advantage over the Falcons. Along with Brady, the Patriots have the number one scoring defense in the NFL which could lead to problems on the Falcon’s offensive side. Malcolm Butler, the star defensive back for the Patriots, will have a lot on his plate facing Jones. In the previous Super Bowl XLIX, Butler came up with the game winning interception to help clinch the Super Bowl for the Patriots.

With both teams continuing a hot streak, it will be a fun Super Bowl to watch. Will the number one offense prevail against the number one defense? Or will it not be enough to hold off the dominant Patriots?
