The football team was hoping to get off to a strong start in the new fall season with their first game being Senior Night. The Panthers played their first game versus ranked number eight in the state, Fishers High School who went 7-4 in the previous season.

North Central had a promising start with a score on their first drive with a pass from quarterback Cole Maguire to running back George Stokes. Fishers answered back by also scoring a touchdown their first drive, ending the quarter tied at 7-7.

At the start of the second quarter, the Panthers went three and out on their first drive in the second quarter. This led to a bad snap on the punt that Fishers recovered on the five yard line. This is the same play Fishers would end up scoring on, leaving the halftime score 14-7.

Halftime took a turn when the away side stadium lights turned off causing an extra 20 minutes of halftime.

North Central had a bad start to the third quarter with a 3 and out, in which Fishers took over and scored off a pass. Later, in the third quarter, the Panthers scored off a 5 yard run from running back George Stokes. At the end of the third quarter Fishers lead the score with 21-14.

In the fourth quarter, North Central muffed a punt, that led to a Fishers score. Late in the fourth, North Central got an interception that lead to a Panther touchdown. However, Fishers started to run away with the game in the end. The final score of the game was 28-14.

Coming off of their loss, the Panthers have a better sense of what needs to be done and are remaining confident for the remainder of the season.

“We need to score more and control the game. We know what to do as a team and we are going to work it out. We all have trust in each other,” Senior Linebacker Walter Haire said.
