Blood Drive Aftermath
February 18, 2016
North Central’s annual Senior Blood Drive that took place last Friday, February 12, brought in the highest amount of blood donors in North Central blood drive history according to Mrs. Decker, the blood drive teacher coordinator. A total of 676 students signed up, however there are 500 to 800 other people eligible to sign up that did not according to Mrs. Decker.
Despite the high number of blood donors, an estimated 20 percent of students that signed up would be deferred. According to the blood drive staff people can get deferred for many reasons such as their height and weight, illness or hemoglobin levels.
The Senior Blood Drive was performed by The Indiana Blood Center, a non-for-profit organization gathering blood for people in need. All blood donations from NC will stay in the state and be used at Indiana hospitals.
