The varsity softball team had their first game last Wednesday vs. HSE and their second game last Friday vs. Westfield. Both games were played away.
The team has their first home game on Saturday, April 13. It is a tournament double header. Their next home game is the following Tuesday vs. Carmel.
“I am very excited for this season,” junior Kennady Johnson said, “I think it’s going to be very fun and competitive.”
To prepare for this spring, softball preseason training began early in September and the team has had multiple practices per week.
“We do months of preseason training to ensure that we are at our best when it comes to games and tournaments,” Johnson said, “It is important because it allows the girls to build a bond when practicing and allows us to work on our overall ability.”
The girls on the team are excited for the rest of the upcoming season and are eager to display their talent.
“I’m most excited for the spirit, energy and fun that comes with softball season, and getting to spend time with all the girls,” Johnson said, “We have a lot of leaders on the team this year so there will be a lot of spirit and a more fun attitude coming into our games.”
The softball team has over 25 games this season. Playing in all these games requires motivation and dedication from all the players to make sure they’re always playing their best.
“I am motivated to play because softball has always been a fun outlet for me. All the girls on the team are super motivating as well. I’ve played for 12-13 years and am excited to continue playing for the rest of high school and all throughout college,” Johnson said.
All students are encouraged to come watch softball games and support their Panthers.
