Football season is coming up and the team is hoping to improve their record from the previous years once again. Prior to the home opener, there is a tailgate put on by student council that brings an electric atmosphere into the stadium. Courtney Williams is co-teacher sponsor of student council and science teacher.
“It is a great opportunity to come and celebrate North Central and hang out with friends, get free food, place some games and get ready to cheer on our panthers at the first home football game,” Williams said.
Student council’s first event of the year is tailgate and President Lily Hall is in charge of overseeing everything.
“To plan the tailgate there are quite a few things you need to do,” Hall said, “You need to pick a theme, find out what clubs want to have a station and what exactly they’re going to do, talk with senior class council and make sure they have their food plan, make sure junior class council does a good job with advertisement, make sure the DJ is able to play, have a backup rain plan, and list the supplies that you’ll need.”
The Senior Class Council chooses food for tailgate. Jared Schingel is the senior class treasurer and is in charge of the food arrangements.
“At the tailgate senior class council is providing catered barbecue with trays of pulled pork and pulled chicken with lots of sauces and mac and cheese,” Schingel said.
Lily is hoping for a large crowd, to kick the school year off in a good way.
“I’m most excited about the overall turnout. Every year we try to make it bigger and better and we’re hoping to have lots of people there,” Hall said.
