The girls basketball team had tryouts last Monday through Wednesday. The Panthers are eager to start the season again as they prepare for their first scrimmage today.
After tryouts, senior Kaitlyn Hoff was ready to prepare with the rest of the team.
“Tryouts were good, we had a lot of girls show out which makes me hopeful for this season,” Hoff said.
“I think tryouts went well and we had a good turnout all together,” junior Gabby Burrus said.
With the season approaching, players are focused on having a positive, optimistic attitude. This mindset will hopefully serve the team well this winter.
“As a team, in practice we are going through plays and different defenses as well as drills to better our skills,” Hoff said, “As a team, I think we need to improve on understanding each other’s strengths and weaknesses.”
“I think we are definitely gonna win because we have a positive mindset going into the scrimmage,” Burrus said, “I think as a team we need to improve on being more vocal on both sides of the ball if we want to win.”
Players believe communication gives the Panthers a better chance of winning the scrimmage game, and hopefully future games as well.
“I think we can also win if we are all united, but also our coaches will be trying different things with different people since it is so early in our season,” Hoff said.
Players continue to work in and outside of practice to continue to reach their goals.
“I think we will destroy Hamilton Southeastern because I have prepared myself by learning the plays,” freshman Macy Loy said, “I will continue to improve my energy and work hard in and out of practice.”
The Panthers have great confidence for the future season with how well tryouts went. The team sees this as an easy win, giving them great hope for the upcoming scrimmage against Hamilton Southeastern this evening.
