When looking for a place to eat the type of food the restaurant offers always comes to mind. Whether it’s Italian, Chinese or Indian, each restaurant can offer up unique styles of food from many different cultures. There is one type of food that everyone knows and loves; that’s Mexican food.
Mexican styled food can be seen in every corner of the United States. Mexico is our neighboring country after all. It can be an upscale restaurant or small family owned business each with its own flavors and taste. Chris’ Ice Cream and Mexican Food on 1405 E 86th St, Indianapolis, IN looks to serve high quality Mexican food paired with ice cream.
Chris’ has a simplistic layout for a restaurant. It’s more on the small side, however it has a very welcoming atmosphere. With flowers hanging from the walls and the menu plastered above the counter it’s very inviting for the customer.
The menu for Chris’ specializes in Mexican food and ice cream. From tacos, quesadillas, burritos and tacos, you’ll surely get the whole fixen of Mexican. When it comes to ice cream Chris’ has an array of flavors and toppings to choose from.
I ordered the chicken quesadillas. It comes with chicken, onions and lettuce. I was a bit disappointed that you had to pay extra just so I could have cheese. It’s one of the most important ingredients when it comes to Mexican food.
The next item I ordered from the menu was their ice cream. I got the Vanilla and strawberry flavored ice cream with no toppings. The ice cream comes in a decent sized bowl with the ice cream filled to the top. Some ice cream places around Indy are not too kind when it comes to the amount of ice cream, however Chris’ makes sure there’s enough to satisfy the needs.
Once I sat down at my table I began trying the quesadillas. The bread was nicely toasted and had a nice crunch when biting down. The cheese was stringy and melted beautifully in the mouth. Overall all the ingredients blended well together and definitely hit the spot.
Next up was the ice cream. I tried the vanilla flavor first and it tasted exceptional. It was very creamy and had a very smooth texture. Next up I tried the strawberry flavor of ice cream. I was a bit disappointed as there were small chunks of strawberry that did not taste much of anything. The strawberry flavor itself did taste nicely.
When it comes to Chris’ Ice Cream and Mexican Food you’ll for sure be satisfied with Mexican and the ice cream. It would definitely be a place to stop by on a hot summer day.
