The Fall Band Festival takes place Friday in the auditorium at 7 p.m. and will last for about an hour. The festival features the wind ensemble, marching band and the three middle school advanced bands: Northview, Westlane and Eastwood.
The marching band plays highlighted songs featured in their various football halftime performances, with 84 participants, including the pantherettes. They play in the fall season for the football games and practice twice-a-week after school. In the band there are saxophones, clarinets, flutes, piccolos, trumpets, mellophones, trombones, sousaphones and percussion.
Junior Autumn Montague is a member of the marching band. Montague plays the tenor drums in the drum line and has been a part of the band for three years. She has always played the drums for the band but is able to play a few other instruments.
Montague explains why she enjoys being a member of the marching band and her favorite part of the festival.
“I love the energy of marching band and the bonds we all form. It is very fun when we surprise the audience when we march down the aisles to play. Playing the drums can be hard to play and manage at sometimes but once I get the hang of it, I have a lot of fun,” Montague said.
