The girls basketball season came to a close Feb. 2 with a loss to Lawrence North, who they previously beat. Seniors Rikki Harris, Savaya Brockington and Tiara Watkins will hang up their jerseys for the last time.
The 59-51 loss ended standout players like Northwestern commit Jasmine McWilliams and freshman Tanyuel Welch’s season. The team went 19-7 on the season and 5-4 in conference play.
With key wins over Warren Central and Carmel, the team had high hopes of advancing far. They were second in the state and fifty sixth nationwide.
The girls had won at Cathedral High School against Warren Central with a final score of 41-39 in the first round of the IHSAA Class 4A Girls Basketball State Tournament. This was a comeback win came after a loss at home against Warren Central of 72-65.
