Girls lacrosse looks to bounce back from slow start

The girls lacrosse team has started off slowly this season, with a current record of 1-7. Although their record is not optimal, the players remain confident about the rest of the season.
“This year’s team has a lot of new players, which definitely means that we need to learn more as a team, but a lot of returning players have shown a lot of growth on the field so far this year,” junior Katie Goetz said. Goetz has been a member of the team for three years
The team lost several key seniors last year. Players on this year’s team, such as Vivi Armacost, Meghan Brown and Anna Chinni, hope to fill the shoes of those who left.
Sophomore Paige Babb played for the team last year and realizes the impact last year’s seniors had on the team.
“We lost a lot of key players, but we still have a good core of tight knit players,” Babb said.
Babb believes the team can improve significantly and perform much better as the season goes on.“We need to communicate much better on the field and be more focused in drills during practice,” Babb said.
Goetz shares the same feelings regarding communication and believes more progress can be made. “We need to communicate more on the field and work on passing the ball more when we are on offense,” Goetz said.
The team will look to apply these improvements throughout the rest of their season. Their next game is Saturday, Apr. 28 against Evansville North at home.
