Boys Cross Country Advance to State
October 24, 2017
As quiet fell over the spectators, the air was tense as over 150 boys stood on the start line ready for the gun to go off. Last Saturday, the boys cross-country team headed down to Shelbyville to compete in semi-state.
The boys team placed fourth in the meet and will advance to the state meet on Saturday. This is the first time that the entire boys team will be going to the state meet since Futsum Zienasellassie was on the team.
Ian Hunter, the top runner for the team, finished at fourth place with a time of 15:21 for the five kilometer race. Hunter currently has the second ranked time at North Central, behind Zienasellassie. Hunter also went to the semi-state meet last year, making it all the way to state individually.
The team is made of twelve runners, Ian Hunter, Ian Cummings, Isaac Weber, Alex Frey, Jack Hawes, Aidan Minto, O’Neel Occenat, Jon Deem-Loureiro, Howard Hendricks, Antwine Johnson, Eric Petersen, and Jacob Lough.
The team will be heading down to Terre Haute on Saturday, October 28th for the state meet. Tickets will cost 10 dollars and the boys race will start at 1p.m.
